ACTION STEP
A Disciple…Loves All People, Discovers Identity in Jesus, Deepens Relationship with Jesus
Read Luke 24:32. Think about a time when the scriptures were revealed to you and your heart burned. Write down all the details of what happened and how you felt.
Pray about who the Holy Spirit wants you to share that with this week. Let your group know how it went.
Addendum: Pastor John Piper on the definition of sin: The power of God not praised. The truth of God not sought. The wisdom of God not esteemed. The beauty of God not treasured. The goodness of God not savored. The faithfulness of God not trusted. The commandments of God not obeyed. The justice of God not respected. The wrath of God not feared. The grace of God not cherished. The presence of God not prized. The person of God not loved.

Title: Walk with God
Scripture: Hebrews 11:5; 2 Cor. 5:19
Big Idea: Jesus going to the cross made it possible for us to walk with God
Summary: God created mankind to live in a close relationship with him. When we believed the serpent’s lie that God really couldn’t be trusted we decided to take his place and become our own king. This broke our relationship with God, the world, ourselves, and each other. We are at war with God. Yet God, because of his great love for us provided a way to restore peace and invites us to walk with him.
1. What was so great about Enoch’s life that the writer of Hebrews would include him in the hall of fame of the heroes of the faith?
2. What does it mean to walk with God?
3. Where do we hear the lie of the serpent in our world today? Why is it so easy to find ourselves falling for it?
4. Have you ever considered sin in the context of being a challenge to God’s throne and authority? How does this impact your understanding of the nature and seriousness of sin in our lives?
5. In what areas of your life do you find it difficult to trust God and are tempted to do things your way and disobey God’s instruction? How has that worked out for you?
6. Why is it important to admit that you have been at war with God and that he is just in his judgment of sin?
7. How can meditating on what Jesus did for you on the cross move you to greater love for God?
